Why we built it

Most “free” tool websites are anything but. You upload a private document, wait in a queue, and then find out the download needs an account, a subscription or comes stamped with a watermark. For a ten-second job, that is a lot of friction — and a lot of trust to hand over.

MixTool takes the opposite approach. Wherever it is technically possible, the work happens inside your browser. Modern browsers are powerful enough to merge PDFs, re-encode images and hash text on their own, so there is no reason to send your files anywhere.

How the tools work

When you open a tool, your browser downloads a small piece of code for that tool. When you add a file, it is read directly from your device into memory, processed there, and the result is offered back to you as a download. Close the tab and it is gone.

A few tools need the internet by their nature, and each one says so on its page:

• SEO and website checkers fetch the public page or DNS record you ask about.
• Live data tools such as the currency converter or IP lookup load up-to-date public data.

How we keep quality high

Every tool is tested with real-world files — multi-page PDFs, large phone photos, messy pasted text — on both desktop and mobile browsers. Calculators document the formula they use, and guides are written to answer the questions people actually ask, including the cases where another approach works better.
