Three ways to split a PDF

Large PDFs are awkward to share and even harder to navigate. Splitting lets you send just the chapter someone needs, upload a document to a portal with a page limit, or file each invoice from a bulk scan separately.

Choose Every page to get one PDF per page, Every N pages to cut the file into equal parts, or Custom ranges to decide exactly where each part starts and ends. Page thumbnails show you what's inside before you split, and all parts download together as a single ZIP.

How to split a PDF

  1. 1

    Open your PDF

Choose the file or drop it on the page. Protected files ask for their password first.

  2. 2

    Pick a split mode

Every page, every N pages, or custom ranges. Use the thumbnails to check page numbers.

  3. 3

    Enter ranges if needed

Type parts separated by commas, such as 1-3, 4-10, 11-last. Each part becomes its own PDF.

  4. 4

    Split and download

Download all parts as a ZIP, or each file individually from the list.

Key features

  • Flexible ranges

Use single pages (5), ranges (2-7), open ranges (12-) or the word last.

  • Visual page preview

Thumbnails of every page help you avoid splitting in the wrong place.

  • ZIP download

Get dozens of parts in one click instead of saving them one by one.

  • Original quality

Pages are copied without re-rendering, so nothing gets blurry.

  • Private

The file is processed on your device and never uploaded.

Common uses

  • Bulk scans: Separate a 40-page scan of individual receipts into one file per receipt.
  • Upload limits: Portals that only accept 10 pages or 5 MB per file are easy to satisfy with equal parts.
  • Sharing a chapter: Send colleagues only the section they need instead of the whole report.

Page range examples

You typeYou get
1-3, 4-6Two PDFs: pages 1–3 and pages 4–6
2, 5, 9Three single-page PDFs
10-One PDF from page 10 to the end
1-5, 6-lastThe first five pages, and everything after

Tips and good to know

  • Want a single new PDF made from scattered pages (for example 2, 5 and 9 together)? Use Extract PDF Pages instead.
  • To delete a few pages and keep the rest in one file, Remove PDF Pages is quicker.
  • Ranges can be written in any order — 8-10, 1-2 creates the 8–10 part first.
