Hit an exact file-size limit
Exam registrations, visa applications, scholarship and job portals often insist on a PDF under 100 KB, 200 KB or 500 KB. Guessing compression settings until one works is frustrating, so this tool does the trial and error for you.
It first optimises the images inside your PDF while keeping text selectable. If that isn't enough, it redraws the pages at gradually lower resolutions and stops at the first version that fits your limit — so you get the most readable file possible at that size.
How to reduce a PDF to a specific size
- 1
Upload the PDF
Choose the file you need to submit.
- 2
Choose the size limit
Pick 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB or 2 MB — only targets smaller than your file are shown.
- 3
Reduce
The tool tries progressively stronger settings and shows each attempt.
- 4
Download
Check the final size and download the file that fits.
Key features
Target-based
Say what the limit is; the tool finds settings that meet it.
Keeps quality where possible
Text stays selectable whenever image optimisation alone is enough.
Readable at small sizes
Stops before pages become too blurry to read and tells you if the limit can't be reached.
Private
Your documents are processed on your device, never uploaded.
Common uses
- Application portals: Upload marksheets, certificates and ID proofs within strict size limits.
- Email to government offices: Some mailboxes cap attachments at 1–2 MB.
- WhatsApp and chat apps: Smaller documents send faster over mobile data.
Tips and good to know
- A single scanned A4 page fits comfortably under 200 KB. Very long scans may not reach 100 KB and stay legible — split them first with Split PDF.
- Scanning in grayscale instead of colour roughly halves the final size.
- For general compression without a fixed target, use Compress PDF.
