Mark documents as yours
A watermark tells readers at a glance that a document is a draft, confidential or belongs to you — and it discourages people from passing your work off as their own. It's common on contracts under review, design proofs, certificates and ID copies shared with third parties.
Type your text and choose a diagonal, straight or tiled layout, a colour, the transparency and the size. The live preview shows how it will look on the first page, and you can limit the watermark to specific pages. Text in Hindi and other scripts is supported too.
How to add a watermark to a PDF

Choose the file to watermark.
- 2
Write the text
For example CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, or “Copy for ABC Bank only”.
- 3
Style it
Pick layout, colour, opacity and size while watching the preview.
- 4
Apply and download
Optionally limit it to certain pages, then press Add watermark.

Common uses
- ID copies: Mark Aadhaar or passport copies with who they're for, e.g. “For KYC at XYZ Bank only”.
- Drafts: Prevent drafts being mistaken for final versions.
- Portfolios and proofs: Share work with clients without giving away clean copies.
Tips and good to know
- For ID documents, a tiled watermark naming the recipient and the date makes misuse much harder.
- Use 20–30% opacity so the text underneath stays readable.
- A watermark added this way becomes part of the page content; to stop recipients editing it out, also protect the PDF with editing disabled.
